The closed-loop NMEA 17 stepper motor is a stepper motor, adding a position feedback device(photoelectric encoder or magnetic encoder), which uses the control method similar to the servo motor to a form a closed-loop stepper system.

 

The closed-loop NEMA 17 stepper motor and open-loop NEMA 17 stepper motor have the same frame size, guide diameter, bolt hole circle, and bolt hole diameter, so the mounting bracket remains unchanged. The greater torque available in the closed-loop stepper system means that the axis diameter of the closed-loop stepper motor may be larger, but this can be easily solved by changing the coupling.
