Nema 17 Stepping Motor
The HL421 is a non-captive linear stepper motor which integrates the nut and the rotor of the motor into one. The lead screw shaft passes through the center of the rotor. Fixing the lead screw and doing anti-rotation, when the rotor rotates, the motor will move along the screw in a straight line. Fixing the motor and lead screw has an anti-rotation solution, the lead screw will move in a straight line.
For NEMA 17 linear actuator, we can also provide captive stepper motor. If you want to larger size products, we can supply NEMA 23 non-captive stepper motor.

The HL421 is a non-captive linear stepper motor which integrates the nut and the rotor of the motor into one. The lead screw shaft passes through the center of the rotor. The Advantage of Non-captive Stepper Motor
1. Allow larger installation errors
In general, if using an external driven linear stepper motor, if the parallelism of the screw and guide rail installation is not good, the system will jam. However, using through type(non-captive) linear stepper motor, this problem will be improved. Due to the characteristic of structure, it can allow larger systematic errors.
2. No limited by the speed of the lead screw
When an external linear stepper motor is used for high-speed linear motion, it is usually restricted by the speed of the screw. However, using a non-captive stepper motor, because the screw is stationary, so it will not be restricted by the speed of the screw.
3. Save installation space
Due to the structure that the nut is built into the motor, the external stepper motor will not take up extra space.

The Advantage of Non-captive Stepper Motor
