The coupling is a common part of the motor testing system. Generally, the user chooses the couple based on the shaft diameter of the motor. The coupling has many different types. The choosing of the coupling should be based on the application. It can be divided into two types: flexible coupling, rigid coupling.
一、Flexible Coupling
Flexible coupling refers to a coupling in which part of the coupling is flexible and deformable. When the two sides are connected, the two rotating shafts are allowed for a certain amount of misalignment.
1. Plum Coupling
Plum coupling is a commonly used coupling, which is also called paul pawl coupling and consists of two metal claw discs and one elastomer. The tow metal claw discs are 45 steel, but in the application where sensitive loads are required, the aluminum alloy is also used. Due to the function of buffering and reducing vibration, the elastomer is mainly used in the high vibration application. The performance limit temperature of elastomer determines the operating temperature of the coupling, which is generally -35 to + 80 ℃。
2. Elastic Column Coupling
The elastic column coupling which is made of non-metallic elastic material is placed on the flange hole of the two half coupling. By the column pin, the two half coupling can be connected. This structure of the coupling is simple and very easy to manufacture. It is relatively convenient to replace the elastic elements without moving the two couplings.
3. Spring Coupling
Spring coupling that takes advantage of corrugated thin-walled tubes is directly welded or glued to the two half couplings to transmit motion. The structure is simple, the overall size is small. It is very easy to manufacture and high transmission precision, which is mainly used for the small power precision machine and control organ that requires high transmission precision.
4. Universal Joint Coupling
The universal joint coupling takes advantage of the characteristic of the mechanism, which makes two shafts, not in the same axis and realizes the continuous rotation of the two connected shafts under the condition that there exists an axis angle. And the torque and motion are reliably transmitted. The character of universal joint coupling is that the structure has a relatively large angular compensation capacity. However, in terms of transmission efficiency, compared with other couplings, the performance is not good. Due to different types, the angle between the two axis is also different, which is 5 to 45 degrees.
二、Rigid Coupling
As the name implies, it is a torsionally rigid coupling. Even if there exists a load, it has no rotary clearance. The small size rigid coupling is lightweight, low inertia, and high sensitivity. In the application, it is maintenance-free, oil resistance, and corrosion resistance.
1. Membrane Coupling
The membrane coupling takes advantage of elastic deformation of the diaphragm to compensate for the relative displacement, which is made of metal elements. It is a compact structure, high strength, long service life, no rotary clearance, not affected by temperature and oil pollution, which is suitable for the shaft transmission environment with high temperature, high speed. When the actual load exceeds the limit load, the diaphragm will break and cut off the transmission of motion and power, which will protect other parts in the machine.
2. Flange
The flange is a part that connects shafts. Flange connection refers to a detachable connection in which flanges, gaskets, and bolts are connected, which is commonly used in the applications that transmit large torque.
